  Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) Freight
The majority of freight shipments will likely be sent through Less-than-truckload (LTL) freight. LTL is an economical option and is designed for shipments that are larger than parcel but too small to fill an entire truckload. Freight carriers will combine your shipments with others until a truck container is filled. The freight is transported through a hub system where it is transferred between trucks and freight centers until it reaches its destination.

Because LTL travels through a hub system, it takes longer to reach its destination than if you were to ship through the Full-Truckload (TL) service. In addition, LTL freight is more susceptible to damage because it is transferred between trucks and freight centers. Therefore, it is important to properly package your items to minimize the likelihood of your shipment being damaged.
  Full Truckload (TL) Freight
There may be instances where shipping Full-Truckload (TL) may be your best option. TL freight is used for large shipments that can fill an entire trailer. The benefit of using TL freight is that your shipments reach their destination in a shorter amount of time because the truck can go directly from your shipping origin to its destination and does not need to be routed through a hub system. In addition, TL shipments are not as susceptible to damage because they are only handled at the pickup and drop off locations.
Air Freight
For shipments that have more time sensitivity, air freight might be your best bet. Our partner network offers a selection of service options, from guaranteed next morning service to more economical 2-5 day delivery options. Whatever option you choose, your shipment will get to its destination safely, and at the right time.
Expedited Freight
Occasionally, you may need your shipments to be delivered ASAP. For these circumstances, expedited freight may be recommended. Usually expedited freight will be sent by air in order to reach its destination quickly. It will be picked up and delivered by truck but most of the distance will be covered by plane. You will pay a premium for time-sensitive shipping. You can save money by planning ahead to ship through one of the other services.
White Glove
White Glove is an additional service option offered by Unishippers. The White Glove service may be a good option when your shipments require special handling, delivery and assembly. When using the White Glove service, your shipments will be delivered inside to the room of your choice with light assembly and the removal of the packaging debris. You will pay a premium for White Glove service so you may want to use it only in those circumstances where the added value is required.
International
Unishippers can assist you with both the import and export of your shipments from the initial quote to document preparation and tracking to the final destination. With our trusted freight partners, we can offer door-to-door service to many major cities worldwide and standard door-to-airport or door-to-port service to almost any international destination. Read on for more helpful information about international freight and ocean freight.
  International Freight
Shipping freight internationally can be a complicated process requiring proper documentation and customs checks. Having proper documentation is essential for your shipment to arrive on time. Most delays are caused by missing or incorrect documents. Unishippers can help your freight arrive at the correct place, on time and on budget through assisting with quotes, document preparation and tracking.

We recommend that you become familiar with the documents needed to ship internationally including the Commercial Invoice, U.S. Certificate of Origin, NAFTA Certificate of Origin and the U.S. Shipper’s Export Declaration. Other documents needed depend on your origin and destination countries, the commodity being shipped and your freight’s value. In addition, you should understand the exact route your freight will travel to its destination, know when and where transfers will occur and the mode by which your shipments will travel. Your Unishippers Shipping Consultant can assist you.
  Ocean
Ocean freight may be a good option for your non-time-sensitive deliveries. Our partnership with Extra Logistics ensures that you get a reliable global container network as they work with reputable shipping lines. Extra Logistics offers both less than container load (LCL) and full container load (FCL) services and will complete all of the paperwork including custom brokerages saving you time and trouble. (May not be available at all Unishippers locations.)
